A little history about our land in the Mexican Republic.
Zacatecas is one of the thirty-two states that, together with Mexico City, form the United Mexican States. Its capital and city more populated is the homonymous one Zacatecas. It is located in the centronorte region of the country, bordering on the north with Coahuila, on the northeast with Nuevo Leon, on the east with San Luis Potosí, on the south with Guanajuato, Jalisco and Aguascalientes, on the southwest with Nayarit and on the west with Durango. With 75 539 km ˛ is the eighth more extensive state and is divided in 58 municipalities.
Its main economic activities are mining, agriculture and tourism. It is known for its large deposits of silver and other minerals, its colonial architecture and its importance during the Mexican Revolution. Among its most important localities are Jerez de Garcia Salinas, Fresnillo de González Echeverría, Rio Grande, Guadalupe.
In this entity are a great number of monuments, internationally recognized for their baroque, Gothic, churriguresco and colonial styles.
The religious conquest was carried out primarily by the Franciscan order who founded the hospice in 1558; In 1567 they already had a great convent and 1603 the custody of the province of Zacatecas was created.
Later came the Augustinians, Dominicans and Jesuits who not only evangelized the Indians but helped to make them sedentary, so that around their chapels and convents were founding populations that today are very populous cities. The Aqueduct the cube made the vital liquid
To the site where the monument to General Jesús González Ortega is located and from there to a pile of water that was located in Plaza Independencia, starting from the shot of the Cube mine, hence its popular name. During the XVII and XVIII centuries also interesting samples of baroque architecture were developed, in this period also several haciendas were constructed in several municipalities of the state like the estate of the County of San Mateo in Valparaiso. For the nineteenth century during the Porfiriato were built in the entity several buildings, mainly in the capital, which include the theater Calderon and Gonzalez Ortega market located in the center of the city of Zacatecas.
Of the religious constructions are the Cathedral Basilica of Zacatecas, the ex convent of San Francisco, temple of Fatima, temple of Santo Domingo, ex temple of San Agustín, Sanctuary of Plateros among others.
